Dudley And The Egg Crew

You'll never hear me say anything against the Paas company and everything that they've contributed over the last several hundred years to the important art of Easter egg dying, but I have to admit that when I first saw one of Dudley's egg dying kits in the mid-'70's it must have felt very much like a kid of the '50's laying eyes on his first color television set... I just couldn't believe that I had been coloring eggs for almost half a decade and had never once realized how much better your basic Paas kit could be if you just sexed it up with a few plastic hand puppets, some laid-back '70's graphics and a couple candy heart catch phrases. I hope that a fat bonus check landed on the desk of the person who looked at a box of Shake 'n' Bake and thought, "Why not do it with an egg?"

I know I'm not the only one who thinks that Elwood looks like a serial killer.

The box front advertises "2 Delightful Puppets" inside, but for some reason there were six puppets hanging out in this box (There were doubles of Dudley and the cat) Maybe that's just what happens when you leave them alone in a junk drawer for thirty years...

Elwood always gives you a flower before wearing your eyeballs as earrings.

Steve are you crazy????
Elwood looks like you! Not a serial killer.

Not unless ... you are.... Oh, now it makes sense. Sorry.

I look nothing like Elwood... I wear a shirt with my overalls.
